The idea for Marion’s Smart Delights baking mixes was born of Marion Braswell’s appreciation for the benefits — and challenges — of a gluten-free lifestyle.  Growing up in Europe, Marion developed a passion for good foods, especially freshly baked pastries and rich breads. Upon moving to the United States, her sweet tooth discovered the pleasures of favorite American recipes, too.  When gluten became an issue for Marion and for many of her friends, she sought a way to bake gluten-free without settling for less in terms of flavor or nutrition.

Marion experimented for years and consulted with nutritionists to find the answer for creating gluten-free, allergen-free  baking mixes that were also simple to use and utterly scrumptious. At last, Marion’s Smart Delights were invented, making it easy to bake up treats that satisfy a sweet tooth, while also treating customers to natural, whole-food ingredients … and a happier, healthier relationship with food.

Today, Marion is president and chief executive officer of Marion’s Smart Delights.  Though the excellence of the baking mixes creates an ever-growing following, Marion continues to view every customer as a friend with whom she is delighted to share good food.

Delicious bakery flavors … healthy whole-foods ingredients

Marion’s Smart Delights baking mixes are certified gluten-free, allergen-free and certified Kosher.  Mixes like the Cookie and Muffin Baking Mix are also excellent sources of GF Whole Grains. This is important since the US Dietary Guidelines recommend that at least half of the grains Americans consume should come from whole grains.  Compared to the leading baking mix on the market, Marion’s Smart Delights are low sodium and reduced sugar, supporting the American Heart Association recommendations to keep consumption of sodium below 2,300 mg per day and to limit sugar to no more than six teaspoons per day (nine for men).  

Marion’s Smart Delights baking mixes offer more wholesome nutrition compared to the empty calories found in many baking mixes, including many that are certified gluten-free.  Fiber is also important – and a challenge for many people with celiac disease and food intolerances.  Marion’s Smart Delights free recipes let you add extra ingredients to the baking mixes that let you enjoy treats brimming not only with flavor, but with heart-healthy fiber, too.
